BMI is weight in kilograms divided by height in meters squared. It does not account for muscle mass or body-fat distribution, so use it only as a rough indicator.
How it works
- BMI = weight (kg) ÷ height (m)²
- WHO: under 18.5 underweight, 18.5–24.9 normal, 25–29.9 overweight, 30+ obese
- Imperial: BMI = 703 × weight (lb) ÷ height (in)²
